2 Rules for using sequence of tenses
Например, в предложении: "I am sorry." событие относится к настоящему моменту; при передаче этого предложения в непрямой речи: "She told me that she was sorry." то же самое событие относится к моменту в прошлом.2) Согласование времен не применяется к модальным глаголам ( Modal verbs) would, should, could, might, ought, must. То же самое касается need в модальном значении и had better.I told him what he had better do under the circumstances.
He enquired what my fees are.
She realised that someone else had found the body first.
I first learned that the earth is round when I was in elementary school.
